PCR has been awarded a multi-year grant from the William Penn Foundation. This funding will allow PCR to formalize the environmental education portion of its programming and improve access to the watershed area.

The grant provides for the development and implementation of an environmental educational curriculum tailored to PCR participants and will allow PCR to offer increased access to the Delaware River watershed, including the Schuylkill River, area for 7th through 12th grade students attending public or charter school in Philadelphia.

The addition of environmental education will help PCR continue to meet its mission of providing multifaceted positive youth development programming that empowers the next generation of Philadelphians, helping them become informed, healthy, and engaged stewards of our community. PCR volunteers with the Schuylkill Navy River Restoration Committee and Philadelphia Horticultural Society in monitoring river conditions, tree planting, trash removal, and other efforts to maintain the Schuylkill watershed.
