PCR is excited to welcome new and returning student-athletes to our FREE High School Rowing Program!
PCR creates a unique, comprehensive and FREE after-school enrichment experience for young people in The School District of Philadelphia by offering a mix of competitive rowing, academic mentorship, and wellness education. We strive to create an inclusive environment that helps all young people unlock their true potential and explore the possibilities of their future.
PCR high school program is a free, YEAR-LONG program that meets 5 days a week and daily attendance is REQUIRED. In addition to our rigorous rowing program, we also provide a suite of enrichment services including a custom college readiness program, one-on-one tutoring support, swim lessons, financial literacy, opportunities for paid summer jobs, and so much more!
Practices will be begin in early September and run through the end of May. Practices and services are held at one of two locations:
LOCATIONS
On-Water Location: #1 Boathouse Row Philadelphia, PA 19130

We reserve the right to suspend or remove any participant from the program if their behavior or conduct is deemed unsafe, disruptive, or inconsistent with our values, expectations, or code of conduct. Our goal is always to work collaboratively with families and participants to support positive growth and address challenges, but in rare cases, removal may be necessary to maintain the safety and integrity of the program for all.

PCR’s high school program also offers comprehensive academic support, resilience-building, & enrichment activities.
Philadelphia public high schools have only one guidance counselor for every 608 students, and many low-income families struggle to find the time and expertise to provide sufficient support for college-bound students at home. PCR is committed to filling this void for all our participants, by providing information, guidance, and support.
100% of PCR seniors graduate on time with plans to further their education or professional training.
In 2024, our graduates are attending Drexel University, Northwestern University, Ithaca College, Jacksonville University, and Penn State University, with three graduates continuing to row at the collegiate level.

“Coxing with PCR gave me new skills that I would have never dreamed about. I can perform in high pressure situations and my quick-thinking skills have saved me more than a few times. Being a coxswain has increased my confidence. Confidence in my fellow rowers, confidence in my friendships, confidence in my academic abilities, and most of all, confidence in myself.”
Leela Rawat, PCR Class of 2023

This video showcases the experiences of some of our alumni who have gone on to row at the collegiate level, graduate from some of the nation’s top academic institutions, or even return to PCR to coach.
