Through year-round staff training and coaching education, PCR is always working to ensure that our coaches and team members are fully equipped to meet the needs of our student-athletes.

caitlin mance

Caitlin came to PCR with extensive non-profit and collegiate coaching experience. She is a graduate of Community Rowing’s Institute for Rowing Leadership, where she received an Advanced Certificate in Rowing Leadership. Caitlin rowed in high school for Narragansett Boat Club, was a Division I varsity oarswoman and team captain at Cornell University, and was a member of Riverside Boat Club in Boston after her graduation in 2008. Caitlin brings exceptionally relevant experience in fundraising, program management, and rowing to help PCR build on past success and continue to meet its mission of empowering Philadelphia Public School students to reach their greatest potential.

Director of Programs & Community Inclusion

George Rowley

George graduated from Morgan State University with a B.S. in Psychology.  He also earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida. George has a strong background in non-profit organizational leadership and co-founded Hope Dealing Mindset Corp., which primarily operates out of Orlando, FL. His rowing experience comes from his time serving as a youth counselor for the City of Philadelphia’s summer rowing camps.

Head Varsity Coach & Director of facilities

JP Sabadini De Lima

JP is originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 1997, he started rowing and participating in regional, national, and university regattas. In 2002, he decided that he wanted to become a rowing coach and earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education at Mackenzie Presbyterian University in Brazil. JP started his coaching career in 2005 and has coached both Olympic and Paralympic athletes. As a coach, he has helped athletes win regional, national, and international regattas, including two gold medals at the World Rowing Championships in 2007 and third place finish in 2013. In addition to his coaching success, JP earned his MBA in Sports Management and his Master’s degree in Science of Physical Activity. In 2019, he moved to Philadelphia, and in 2021 JP started as the Varsity Women’s coach at PCR. PCR is a great opportunity to continue his career as a coach, contributing all these years of his experience in clubs, non-profit projects, and young rowers development.

Head Novice coach & Director of student support

noah teachey

Noah walked on and rowed all four years as an undergraduate at Colby College. He then went on to coach at Colby for a year before moving to New York City. He competed for the New York Athletic Club for six years and won two national championships in the process as well as advancing to quarterfinals in the Britannia Challenge Cup at Henley in 2017. Noah has worked with youth as a school music teacher for eight years and has an MA in music education from Columbia University Teachers College. Noah is also the creator of PCR’s Rowing Pieces podcast and produced the PCR coaching education video series, which includes the Schuylkill River Guide.

varsity Boys coach & Boatyard Assistant

myi harte

Myi rowed for PCR all four years of high school. He also served as a volunteer coach for the PCR summer learn-to-row camps. Towards the end of his high school rowing career, he began assisting with PCR’s Middle School Rowing Program. Myi is currently studying psychology at CCP and plans to transfer to a four-year university to continue studying psychology. Myi also coaches at Bachelors Barge Club and hopes to coach and build upon his knowledge of the sport.

Head Varsity Girls Coach

Nick Santo

Nick first joined Philadelphia City Rowing as a coach in 2017 while studying at Temple University and now serves as Head Varsity Girls Coach. He began rowing in eighth grade at Row New York, where he competed through high school and served as team captain. Since then, he has coached at both Row New York and PCR, leading multiple boats to city and state championships. As a Latino rower from the Bronx, Nick is passionate about expanding access to rowing and creating opportunities for young people who might not otherwise have exposure to the sport. He is dedicated to helping athletes reach their full potential in school, in rowing, and in life, carrying forward the lasting impact his own coaches had on him. In addition to his role at PCR, he serves as an Assistant Coach and Lessons Coordinator at Bachelors Barge Club, working with the Masters team and providing one-on-one lessons for adults learning to row. Nick holds a BA in Business Administration from Temple University.

varsity Girls coach

kera mccarthy

Kera joined PCR in 2016 as a rower in the middle school program. She began coxing the following year and remained with PCR throughout high school. Kera went on to race for Thomas Jefferson University, coxing the V8 to a 2023 NCAA Division II Championship finish and a silver medal at the Dad Vail Regatta. That summer, she returned to PCR to assist the learn-to-row camps. She fell in love with coaching and stayed on as the Varsity Women’s Squad Assistant Coach in the fall. She is grateful for the opportunity to rejoin as a part of the staff that shaped her own rowing foundation and give that experience back to the athletes. Kera is currently studying Sociology and Pre-Medical studies at American University in Washington D.C, intending to pursue a career in Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Varsity & Middle school coach

Jimmy McInerny

Jimmy brings to PCR both competitive experience at the highest collegiate level and proven coaching success. As a student-athlete at La Salle University, Jimmy rowed in the stroke seat of the Varsity 4+ that qualified for the IRA National Championships, the program’s first boat at IRAs in more than twenty years. His boat earned six gold medals during the season, took silver at the Dad Vail Regatta, and finished eighth at IRAs. He later returned to La Salle as an assistant coach, where he contributed to nationally ranked boats and a staff recognized as IRCA Staff of the Year finalists. Jimmy holds a BA in Political Science and Government, with a double major in History and Politics, and Philosophy and Economics.

Anna Bellows

Anna is a student at the University of Pennsylvania and a lifelong lover of the water. In addition to being a collegiate rower, Anna has experience leading multi-week canoe expeditions in the U.S. and Canada and is passionate about helping young athletes build confidence, resilience, and community through outdoor adventure and sports. Alongside rowing, Anna studies political science and law & society at Penn and works on policy and advocacy projects supporting survivors of sexual violence and immigrant communities. She is excited to bring her enthusiasm for coaching, teamwork, and mentorship to PCR.

nick dillon

Nick is originally from Atlantic County, New Jersey where he rowed at Holy Spirit High School. He then rowed at La Salle University, graduating in 2013 with a BA in History and a Minor in Business Administration. Nick graduated from Villanova University with a Master’s degree in History. Nick has worked across all of PCR’s programs and is currently working as part of our development team.

madeline kuntz

Maddy graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Saint Joseph’s University in Sports Marketing in 2018. She served as the head coach of the Episcopal Academy middle school program from 2016 to 2017 and worked as the assistant coach for the summer junior program at Fairmount Boat Club in 2017. More recently, Maddy coached at Germantown Friends School (assistant novice) in 2017, the Baldwin School (head novice) in 2018, and the Winsor School in Boston (head novice) in 2018. Maddy learned to row here on Boathouse Row at Bachelor’s Barge Club in high school before going on to row for Saint Joseph’s University in college. She currently rows for Undine Barge Club. Some of her biggest rowing accomplishments are racing the in Women’s 4- at the World University Games for Team USA in 2015 and winning the Head of the Charles with a new course record in the Women’s Club Single in 2017.

Novice & middle school coach

paul howshall

Paul got started in the sport when his son decided to try rowing in high school. He mostly volunteered at regattas before doing a learn-to-row class at Crescent Boat Club and instantly fell in love with the sport. COVID slowed the learning process, but he is now proudly competing in masters races, including the Schuylkill Navy Regatta, IDR, Navy Day, and the Head of the Schuylkill. As far as coaching goes, his philosophy is to try to pass along what he’s been taught from a multitude of coaches the last few years. Paul is also currently completing his USRowing Level 1 Certification.

anne monte

Anne rowed for Saint Joseph’s University and is currently a 4th grade teacher at Southeast Delco School District. At Saint Joseph’s, Anne was a member of the Varsity 8+ and was named to both the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and the SJU Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. In addition to coaching and teaching, Anne has been a certified lifeguard for 10 years.

novice & Middle school coach

Michaela Donnelly

Michaela started rowing through a PCR learn-to-row camp the summer before she went into 8th grade. Although her parents thought she would dislike it, quite the opposite occurred. She went on to row all four years of high school with PCR and decided to continue rowing at the collegiate level. She graduated from Marietta College this past May and competed for the rowing team as a coxswain and a rower, earning both CRCA Scholar Athlete and Academic All-MARC honors. Michaela had an outstanding rowing career at Marietta, earning several medals at the Head of the Schuylkill, Dad Vail Regatta, and MARC Championships. She is super excited to pass on rowing and coxing knowledge to the PCR novices.

Seth lopez

Seth had an excellent rowing career at PCR, earning both the D’Alba Scholarship Award in 2020 and Mike Mirabella Scholarhship Award in 2018. He recently graduated from West Chester University with a BS in criminal justice and a minor in studio arts. He now works as a park ranger for Philadelphia City Parks and Recreation, where he monitors our beautiful city parks and helps provide information to park visitors on the various offerings and opportunities within the park systems. Seth is thrilled to make his return to PCR and share his love for rowing with our student-athletes.

Middle School coach

Sebastian gonzalez

Sebastian is an accomplished high school and collegiate rower who began his career at PCR. In high school, Sebastian led the the Boys Novice 4+ to a Philadelphia City Championship title. After PCR, Sebastian went on to row for four years at Temple, helping the Owls win the 2023 Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta Points Trophy for the second time in program history by earning a gold medal in the JV4+. In addition to rowing and pursuing a degree in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience from Temple, Sebastian has remained involved in PCR by coaching for the summer program since 2021.

Volunteer coach

Joe Clay

Joe has been a volunteer coach with Philadelphia City Rowing since 2018, working year-round with the varsity team. He rowed at Drexel University and brings both competitive experience and a steady, supportive coaching style to PCR. Outside of rowing, Joe has more than twenty years of experience in warehouse operations and technology, specializing in the Oracle ecosystem. He currently serves as Vice President of Sales at Accelalpha.

Sean Williams

Sean rowed for four years at Drexel University, where he contributed to multiple medal-winning crews and helped the Dragons capture both men’s and overall team titles at the Dad Vail Regatta. Over the course of his collegiate career, he raced in a wide range of boats, from the Varsity 8+ to the Varsity 2x, earning gold medals at the Kerr Cup, Bergen Cup, Schuylkill Invitational, and Dad Vail Regatta. He was also part of the 3V8+ that achieved Drexel’s best-ever finish at the IRA National Championships. Before Drexel, Sean competed with Northfield Mount Hermon and as a junior rower earned podium finishes at major regattas including the Royal Canadian Henley, Mercer Sprints, and the Head of the Schuylkill.

Griffin Pitt

Griffin Pitt is a senior at the University of Pennsylvania’s College of Arts and Sciences, where she competed on the Women’s Varsity Rowing team and studied water access, agricultural systems, and economic equity. She is a Benjamin Franklin Scholar, SNF Paideia Fellow, Perry World House Fellow, and Penn IUR Fellow in Urban Leadership. Her senior thesis on ancient water infrastructure systems earned the Ferdinand Vandeveer Hayden Award for Outstanding Senior in Environmental Studies.
