DAF & IRA Giving

Many supporters choose to give to PCR through donor advised funds (DAFs) or their individual retirement account (IRA). These non cash gifts are easy to arrange and can offer meaningful tax advantages for eligible donors. Donor advised funds let you recommend a grant from charitable assets you already set aside, and qualified charitable distributions from IRAs allow eligible donors to support PCR while lowering taxable income.

Below you will find simple steps and information for each giving option.

Donor Advised Funds

Try our NEW DAF Easy Button:

A donor advised fund is a simple and flexible way to support Philadelphia City Rowing. Many donors use a DAF because it allows them to make a charitable contribution, receive a potential tax deduction at that time, and then recommend grants to PCR and other nonprofits when they are ready. Once your contribution is in the fund, you can support your favorite organizations at a pace that works for you.

Recommending a grant to PCR from your donor advised fund is usually a quick process. Most DAF providers allow you to log in online, search for Philadelphia City Rowing, and submit your recommendation in a few steps. Grants can support our programs, provide stability for our team, and help create lasting opportunities for young people in Philadelphia.

If your DAF sponsor requires it, our legal name and mailing information can be included on the grant recommendation:

Philadelphia City Rowing, Inc.
450 Plymouth Road, Suite 305
Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462
EIN: 27-2264627

Grant checks may arrive without identifying information, so including your name with the recommendation helps us record and acknowledge your gift properly.

Donations from your IRA

If you are 70½ or older, making a donation to Philadelphia City Rowing through your individual retirement account (IRA) can be a simple and tax smart way to give.

A qualified charitable distribution, sometimes called an IRA charitable rollover, allows you to direct funds from your IRA straight to a nonprofit organization. These gifts can be an easy way to support PCR using your retirement assets.

When a qualified charitable distribution is sent directly from your IRA to Philadelphia City Rowing, the amount is generally not included in your taxable income. This can help you reduce your federal income tax compared to taking a regular IRA withdrawal. In addition, gifts made this way can count toward your required minimum distribution for the year.

To qualify, you must:

  • Be 70½ or older at the time of the gift
  • Arrange for the transfer to go directly from your IRA to Philadelphia City Rowing
  • Keep your total qualified charitable distributions from all IRAs within the annual limit of $108,000

IRA gifts sometimes arrive without the donor’s name attached. If you plan to make a qualified charitable distribution to PCR, please contact Executive Director Caitlin Mance at [email protected] or 508-942-7473 so we can confirm your gift.
